As far as I know, the Vertex has a strap cradle that is in contact with your head, the Alveo is lined with polystyrene that is in contact with your head.

Although I've never used an Alveo, I've worn an Elios (also with a poly liner) and it's a less ventilated helmet (hotter) than the Vertex I use for work.

Hopefully someone with an opinion on the Alveo will be along.

Also prefer the Alveo, its lighter and doesn't wobble about on my head as much as the vertex, mines a year old and still fine

You want to have a word with the guys Ben a helmet shouldn't last a few month, they must be throwing them around? Cause I'm sure all the helmets must have been tested to the same EN's ?
