Looking for a 660 to buy for milling

I was looking for a 880 or similar but have decided that a 660 would do. Or something to run a 36" bar.

2101xp mate, they have a manual oiler over-ride to get extra oil to the bar,perfect for milling, might be looking to sell mine !!

I use an older 056av which has plenty of torque, an 064 which has some balls too for milling, all running a 36" bar. a max cut of 29". so look around for an ebay job, and save some pennys that's where my two came from.

for proper work the big dog is employed!

This works in that it physically fits on the 070 crankcase, and on the Contra if you mod it slightly, however the clutch will end up giving you issues.

 

The only components which are different between the 070 and the 090 are the pot and piston, starter and clutch. The starter is OK if left alone, so long as you can pull it over. It does put slightly more stress on it, but doesn't have any noticeable effects that I'm aware of. The clutch however does give you a longer term issue as the 070 (and early Contra/Lightning) clutch couldn't handle the torque. The clutch was uprated to the six-shoe version, for the Contra S/090. This can still be obtained, but is expensive (about £180).
