I have a nice go to book called a colour guide to trees, leaves , bark and fruit by Jaromir Pokorny with illustrations by Jirina Kaplicka. It's not a comprehensive cover of all trees but it covers the common ones I come across. The pictures are like hand painted and the book is old but it is still available cheap second hand. This is it.
