Gatekeepers alright, Meadow Brown is larger than Gatekeeper but the easiest way is to look at the eye-spot on the fore wing. Gatekeeper has a double white spot as opposed to the single of the M'Brown, :thumbup1:

Spotted an out of place caterpillar yesterday, didnt manage to get a pic but looked it up last night was a lime hawk moth, thing is we found it in a stand of norway spruce and no lime trees nearby?!

Glad small tortoiseshells are thiving in the far south.

Despite travelling around a fair bit this year, I still haven't seen a single one (except those I breed to try and increase numbers locally).

Found a couple of these in a Cotoneaster today. Anyone know what it is, and if they eat anything else apart from Cotoneaster as found one in the van when back at the yard, it is now in a tub in my kitchen!
