Tony Martin had a go ........

Tony Martin very publicly announced that he would shoot anybody on his land and then shot them in the back with an illegally held firearm. While I sympathise with the situation he found himself in, it would have been difficult to argue his actions as neither premeditated nor unreasonable force. :001_smile:

7-08 is a .308 necked down to 7mm, its .284 in old money. There's no such thing as far as I know as a 30-08. The names of new cartridges are sometimes taken from the parent case that they were made from, so the 25-06 for example is a 30-06 necked down to .25, 25 being the caliber and '06' coming from the parent case.

I shoot deer and foxes with mine, velocity and recoil are virtually the same as the .308, but it shoots a bit flatter thanks to a narrower bullet.

That's the main reason why I like my 17hmr and 243win fairly flat trajectory pretty much aim on at 300yrds just give few inches. I have been trying different ammunition through the 243 and the best I have found through my tika is the Winchester 95grain silver tip getting really good groupings.

I have never got into reloading my own ammo. Federal was my main ammunition but when I got my new 243 rifle went to the range and tested , federal, sako , Winchester , Norma , Remington , at 200 yrds best I got was 14mill group with the Winchester so given them a go.

i think it plays a part at about 200 yards the bullet is traveling around 2630 feet per sec and a 95grain bullet hits home at around 2000 foot lb of energy so as long as you have got a good bullet placement your ammunition should do the rest my opinion.
