actually, I'm gonna be serious here for a minute. Why did you not use a cambium saver on a tree that was being retained???

I appreciate the damage caused by your rope would have been minimal if existent at all but why do we have them If we dont use them???

 

I know that you didnt take the picture when you had just reached your anchor and not installed a cambium saver because of the cut limb at the back.

Basically yeh, if I had a cambium saver in my kit bag I would have used one, but it was my day off and I didn’t have one at hand. As mentioned in the above thread the punter came out two thirds way through the reduction and informed me they’d rather have it removed (after previously agreeing to a 30% reduction) They are personal friends of mine so were hastily talked into postponing the removal for the time being. (I think it’s a nice tree, giving some good contrast in the garden).

 

I could have ‘topped’ the tree below the anchor point and created a much bigger wound, which would have been far worse, but no – I was an Arb with a conscience and no cambium saver!
