Mow, feed , mow, feed, mow etc. grass enjoys being cut so long as you only take 1/3 of length off. There are sprays that can be used on young grass but don't use things from garden centres on grass this young. If you do as above then leave the spraying till next year. Don't use summer feeds after end of August but use autumn feeds after that

You could try Blaster - is a broadleaf herbicide for weeds in amenity turf and woodlands. We have used it with brilliant results to control nettles at the Royal Gunpowder Mills, Essex. Got it from ALS in Shropshire - about £45 per litre. Matt

I've found that Autumn sown lawns generally have fewer weeds in than Spring/summer lawns.

I have had the odd client complain about the 'salad' I appear to have sown:confused1:

The weeds all go with mowing of course but short term it does look like poor work.:001_rolleyes:

I can't however help it when we clear a mess of brambles, nettles and docks in order to sow a lawn that plants others than fescues and bents pop their cotyledons up first!

Yes thats the case here, garden over run. strimmed, raked, mown, tree's removed, stumps ground, rotivated, then sown.....

Its enevitable really.

That said the area does look great now! after all the works, we continue to mow every fortnight and it does seem to show signs of grass overtaking the "salad" as you say lol
