Could be that there is no one on the forum with the skills but I think its more to do with it being a big ask for London on those rates, sleeping in the back of a van and not eating is no fun, you can get £12 an hour wiping bums in my local care home in Somerset, and how would you afford to eat and drink on that money in London ? is this a joke my reply is not to offend just disappointed at how anyone could have agreed to those rates and then let you down at such short notice. Ok, ok, please calm down, I just thought it made more sense to offer an hourly rate, but clearly a day rate makes far more sense.

Jesse, I'm quite sure you can't get "£12 an hour wiping bums", that's more like £8 per hour and we all know that.

 

£11.20p is based on £24,000 + Overtime, which actually over our year will be about £28,000 based on our normal overtime. Speak to most climbers working at the level I want (non-managerial) at the larger london companies and you won't find too many earning more than £28,000 a year. And a lot earning £21,000 a year!!

And I'll just add that there's 252 working days a year, so that works out like this on our 9 hour days :-

 

252 * 9 * £11.20 = £25,401 + £4k overtime (roughly) = £29,401

 

NOT pony money.

But you wanting someone for 2 or 3 weeks so they arnt gonna realy benifit from an hourly rate. You maybe should have asked for a contract climber for 2 weeks cover, £150 per day or whatever they charge down in London. All the climbers I know who bring own kit etc and are contract climbers are easily worth that.
