Takes a while to get comfy on spikes but it'll come mate. Topping out is the tricky bit to start with.. after that the pole should stabilize for ya :D happy climbing

Doing the Cs39 element today. Yet another thing that was hard. Strange although it was hard, it's not been unpleasant.

Seen some beautiful houses and stunning views and way can be better than being in the fresh air everyday

Whilst the thread is good perhaps you could elaborate a bit! Why was it hard?

It's written in a "Hemingway" style rather like The Old man and the Sea. Maybe that was you intention?

C'mon! Flower it up a bit! Pics maybe?

I didn't want I bore people with massive blocks of writing. Didn't know until I just googled Hemingways style.

I can't put my finger on why its hard. I've done more physically and mentally challenging things but everyday when I'm back I am physically exhausted.

When I did the cs31 in the woods I was covered in sweat after just snedding one tree, all I was doing was guiding the saw. As for climbing I'm probably about 2stone heavier than I should be so its no easy pulling myself up a tree. I'm getting better as my technique develops.

Technique is everything as they say.... Fitness comes with time, I was 16 1/2 stone when I started climbing, I now weight in at 13. The more you do it, the better your technique and with it the fitness. :D

I guess you're concentrating hard that's what's knocking you out. I remember when I was learning to climb and in the early days of working I was shattered because often you have to go back to places in the tree to redo stuff.

I've known some big ole boys who were good climbers and some athletic sorts who weren't up to much. Technique and planning that's the key.
