Evenin!

Can anyone tell me if its ok to use 10w-30 oil in the chipper instead of the 10w is says in the manual?!?!? Got a can I bought by mistake.

in my ignorance I just hoped the viscosity might be the same and that would make it all ok!

The viscosity is indeed similar, but thats not the issue.

 

If the10w30 is an engine oil rather than a hydraulic fuel, it contains additives neccessary for engines that can harmful to hydraulic systems.

 

The detergents in engine oil easily absorb moisture an emulsify. Moisture droplets in a high pressure hydraulic system can lead to cavitation in pumps and motors.
