Phellinus igniarius? - False Tinder Fungus / Grey Fire Bracket

Can't find it hosting specifically on Oak, commonly on Willow, Rowan, Poplar & Apple but also "Other Broadleaves"

What do you think it is?

Btw, checked up on the current status of P. quercinus;

it's listed as annex 2006 - Endangered 1992

I will wait for five more guesses before revealing what I think it to be. I don't think its Phelinus.

There is an Oak with phelinus igniarius at our tip site. There were 2 but one was felled. The residual wall was less than an inch for aboout 25 feet!!!!!

When I couldn't ID it I started to really convince myself that it was P.quercinus but its not.

I think the tube layer is too deep for Rigi.

But I reckon you're both on to a winner with dryadeus.

Right host, fibrous flesh and tube layer looks at least 2cm from the photo.

All ties in nicely.

Great call the pair of you :thumbup1:

White rot - Possibly leading to ductile fracture = Nasty

Have read that the decay is pretty hard to map for current DDE

What are the targets Will?
