Found a very, very old Oak

The landowner claimed it to be 'the oldest in the uk' verified by national trust...

Not sure how true that is and hard to find any info on the net.

Its near Chipping Sodbury, South Gloucestershire.

Anyway, it's a cracking tree and well worth sharing, and certainly 'ancient'

The middle is completely dead and it has effectively turned into two separate trees. :thumbup1:

cool.....only quarter of an hour from me....fancy showing me some time??:001_smile:

I think the oldest oak in the uk up until it went over a few weeks ago was the Pontfadog Oak

A PRIVATE TREE...The Pontfadog Oak is one of the oldest oak trees in the world! It is said to be between 1,200-1,600 years old and may have been growing when the Romans were still in Britain! Permission to visit the tree can be requested via the Tree Council London. As of the 18th April 2013 the tree is entering a new phase of its existence...
