B+E Licence, training and test

Hi all,

 

Has anyone done this recently? I've heard it's really hard to pass haha.

 

I only have a standard post 1997 licence and I would like to add B+E towing licence to it to enhance my opportunities. If anyone has any experience or passed the test recently feel free to share!

 

Also if anyone knows of any cost effective training providers in the East Midlands that would be great, I've tried google but someone always knows somewhere cheaper!

Me and 3 other mates did it a year ago, they all passed but I failed on a stupid mistake, its not too bad, the training is way more about driving the car than towing the trailer, the one manoeuvre is very straightforward.

Like William said, it's more like re-doing your normal driving test so if you've been driving a while then bad habits can be hard to rectify.

How many hours of lessons would anyone feel about average for a driver with 10 years driving experience and a a few bad habits? Ball park figure?

 

Need mine doing asap.

Mine was 1.5 days training and the test, so probably about 11hours training, its all about practicing driving test style driving!

Id been driving 20,000 miles a year for 7 years at this point so it wasstrange to be driving like that again, one problem I had was not using engine breaking as they really don't like you changing down unnecessarily.

I had 8 hrs training and passed first time, I used to reverse looking over my shoulder or out the window but you have to use a box trailer and use your mirrors! It's not too bad I'm glad I did mine for peace of mind really.

I did 4 hrs then test got one minor fault easy. Just drive like normal test with one manoeuvre into a bay around a cone piece of cake.

Cheers for all the advice guys, been driving about 4 years myself and can still remember my practical driving test. Ill book my in the next few months!

It all depends on what vehicle and what trailer you are planning on towing with. it might pay to look at doing your c1 then you are covered for everything. e.g transit and larger trailer

You would need to sit C1 test then again a C1+E test. Expensive way to go.

 

Transit is 3500 kg usually so still falls under C+E??
