I've just taken on four staff on paye from being subbies I've got a bookkeeper in place but now need to give them contracts of employment can anyone help to tell me where would be best to look?

Someone I know employs all his guys through an employment agency. He pays the agency £14 per person per week and they deal with Everything. Means they are all one step away from his company.

As PAYE staff they get statutory rights so you don't need a formal contract of employment, check on the DWP website.

One of these rights is to get a written statement of employment or contract within 2 months.

If you google "when do i need a contract of employment" you can link to a government web site that gives all the details including a template contract.

Go with the government website. Contract forms can be copied. Just change the details you want.

If you don't give a contract to employees you will be seen as a 'bad' employer if you have to go to court.

Some people on here have the wrong information.

Oh yes- and this is where your real headache starts.

4 employees plus you = 5 employees= written risk assessments. Have fun:001_smile:

The 5 employees threshold also kicks in other mandatory H+S requirements. Worth having alook round the HSE web site. I think you have to have first facilities, have a written H and S policy and have an appointed person deal with first aid.

Thanks guys I have all the H&S stuff in place I employ a H&S advisor that I pay a small monthly fee and he deals with all that takes the head ache away from me!!
