Like broadsword has said it's an old solution used to do the same with a fixe to myself until the hitchclimber came out.

 

Now my cinch is worn out i am going back to a knot on my lanyard and may try it out again although leaving the becket clear has it advantages to.

Whats the advantage besides bot crowding the biner as much?

 

On a lanyard for example you could clip the biner to the becket creating a short double line second anchor point. Or even clip another system to it for more support, another pulley to give more advantage etc.
