I had a deal over 20 years ago for this and was told it was an opium pipe. Can any one shed any light on what it is and what wood it is made of ?[ATTACH]125070[/ATTACH]

This won't give you the answers you require, but I don't think that its an opium pipe.

 

Opium pipes traditionally have a single bowl either centrally or towards one end.

 

It would be interesting to see more detail of the larger piece at the right hand end of the 'instrument'.

Back in 1980 I went on a 2 week school trip to the med, remember buying one of these (may still have it)

Fairly sure it came from Turkey but if not there then somewhere in that area.

I think they were decorative and not meant to be used.

Sounds about right!!!!!.....Is/was your's made up of five pieces ?

Certainly was in several pieces, could never have got it home otherwise

I'll see if my parents still have it at there place, only trouble is it's 500 miles from my place!

I guess my £10 investment 20 years ago ain't gone up much. :biggrin:
