024-7685-6846 thats it me reckons, mine cost me round 300 (not including PPE) but they'll make a deal with you to throw it in if u wish, they're a good bunch :D

i have found that tudor are not that cheap and they have a very limited range or arb equipment but that ^ is the right number for them. i think you would probably be better to ring up somewhere like honey bros and get them to do you a good deal.

it looks nice quite a nice little list you have there for a first kit:001_cool:

This may seem like a stupid question but have you tried the sequoia harness?

I havent any experience with it my self but I know what its like to buy a harness you havent tried before hand

If you have and you like it then no worries it just sounded like you werent sure about it.

I have used the sequoia before and liked it, reminded me of my old rock climbing harness, just gotta double check with one of the lads on my course what size I need. Gonna try his on.

Thanks very much everyone for the replies:marchmellow:. I know Honey Bros does a quote service if you're ordering quite a lot, and to me this seems like quite a lot. Just needed some sort of reassurance that I'm not doing anything crazy buying this lot. Guess I just gotta take the plunge and get out climbing.

from what iv heard and seen people use, tree magic harnesses are good, i use a butterfly which is ok, can be uncomfortable in some awkward positions, but is yet to try and castrate me so all good :thumbup1:

i know yeah, but their range is very limited, and i agree with you, i have a tree magic but it was a lot cheaper from honey bros than it was tudor, and i tudor only stock 13mm main lines, which is not what he's after.

Cheers for the responses guys. I do have CS38 and chose all the kit myself and mostly by experience of having used it at college, just wanted to see if anyone could spot any obvious flaws that I may have missed in my naivety.

As Phenom said, I could just do with the practice and needed a good excuse to get the kit so thought I'd take on the job and use that as the push I needed. It's not a serious job in the slightest, more just a give it a go cause they want it coming down anyway. Money isn't too much of a problem, I'm pretty good when it comes to saving and management, just don't wanna buy something that a cheaper version I may have overlooked could do better.

How come you wanted to know if they'd advised me what to get dougie?

i was only curious if they "advised" about the gear. i've read all the posts with interest. the point i was trying to make was patience my boy. i understand your enthusiasm to get in there, but don't go spending your money unless you've an iron clad job to go to. i didn't see a first aid kit in there.

Dont forget yr cable strop mate-an stick a carabiner on both ends-makes them easiler to use -dont bother buying spikes-most companies should lend you theirs-so dont waste yr cash ( like I did) couple of tapes and carabiners fr a re-direct are useful. Keep at it.

Me and patience simply do not go I'm afraid :001_tongue:. The climbing kit is mostly if not completely for pure practice, a lot of the guys from my course go climbing during the week so it would be cool to join them. There's also quite a few tree's around mine that I've already planned my route up so any jobs I can do with it are purely a bonus and maybe will pay for some of the less essential bits of gear.

I have actually been looking at first aid kits but was a bit reluctant to get one as most do not say what's inside and I could most likely make one up from everything at home. I guess it may make a decent topic to ask what everyone has in their first aid kits, see who's in the duct tape can fix everything camp :001_tongue:.

Hi guys, I was hoping you could give me some advice for my first climbing kit. I have nothing to start with so am buying the whole lot in one big bulk. I'm currently studying at Myerscough but got a couple of small jobs lined up for friend of friends so decided I might as well take the plunge and get everything I need.

This is the list that I've come up with from Honey Brothers:

Petzl Vertex Vent c/w Husq Attch

Petzl SEQUOIA Harness

Yale XTC-FIRE Rope 35m

3 x Edelrid HMS Triple Lock Karabiner

Adjustable Lanyard 3m (with the crab, pulley, cord, etc)

Marlow Boa 9mm Friction Cord 4m

Throw Bag with Throwline

Silky Zubat 300 Saw & Sheath

Webbed Cambium/Friction Saver Length: 1.3 Metre

Total inc VAT £524.57

Was hoping if anyone had any suggestions or recommendations on what to take away/swap or if what I've picked is likely to fall apart from experience. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys.

Edit - Forgot to mention, if anyone from Honey Brothers is on here, student discount? Don't ask, don't get ;)

get yourself one of those little throw line bags and clip it to your harness

good for stashing things. in mine i keep safety specs first aid kit etc even my fags .

well some times you just dont want to come down for one.

also kit yourself out with some good quality long sleve base layer shirts
