Objects found in trees

Today we were taking down an old ash stem, knackard chains on 200t and 440, purchase a 660 for the main trunk and fell, can't bring myself to go near after finding these items in the tree.

Bought a ripple sycamore log the other day and have thus far pulled out 45cm of chain links, 2 6" handmade screws, around 8-10 4" nails, some lead flashing and a few fencing staples.

Stones and nails common, but a hammer!! I wondered recently if a metal detector would help, after a lot of chains got damaged. anyone ever tried using one on a tree?

Found a rusty set of loppers in a sycamore, out on a limb, as if the previous climber had given up.

Also found an old cambium saver up a norway maple about 3 weeks later. Thought the old aliens had been up to they're old abduction tricks again!!!

regularly find nails, stones and iron railings , have found golf balls, a cut throat razor blade and bullets

Once found half a watermelon and a childrens doll half way up a london plane.

 

Tried to put them both through the chipper at the same time for some sort of hilarious gory result.

 

Actual result was bits of plastic and watermelon

Found this a horse shoe as well barb wire along with a victorian tree guard, nails, fencing and a cannon ball in ireland? And sadly lots of shake.
