Joining the land rover club!! Looking for a decent defender 90 in the hants surrey area

Finding a decent one's like looking for a needle in a haystack. If you've the time and space, I'd try and find one that's OK and factor in bunging a fresh galv chassis underneath it and replace any bits that break with good quality replacments and then you'll end up with a decent one.

 

Too many people skimp on parts and wonder why they break.

 

In my experience, the best ones to look at are generally still very much standard looking and come from a working background - on the whole they'll have been maintained better (though may still look as rough as) as the previous owner will have depended on it for work. Avoid anything that looks like it's had lots of shiny bits bolted to it - most of it's for show and rarely does it make it any better in day to day use.

How much budget do you have?

200tdi ,300tdi or td5?

The latter will just be more expensive on parts.

All about budget. Remember a 90 doesn't have that much room in the back and 2/3 seats
