I am thinking about getting a 1700 unimog , its a good clean low mileage machine the only problem is its not set up for tree work.

Is it a straight forward bolt on job to fit 3 point linkage, tipping gear and pto?

There is a rear pto box fitted but this is used to drive a crane pump.

I plan to remove the crane pump and fit a pto shaft and I guess the pto box will be a high speed unit so will need changed also.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I think you will find it will cost a fortune to make the changes you list.

You really need to try and find mog that has the spec you need, its far cheaper than adding stuff later.

What kind of money are we talking?

I could have the chipper fixed on the rear to save a bit of money. Its such a clean and low kilometre mog I think it might be worth it, depending on the how much to set it up for tree work.

You would be better buying a beat up Mog with Ag spec and spend money on it, rather than go with the 1700.

No one could give you an exact price, there are so many things to do, and you need to have the knowledge and skill to do it.

A Mog with non Ag is worthless in this country imo,

Only good for carrying beaters round a shoot.

depends on which pto system is fitted, is the vehicle fitted with the merc hydraulic system, does it have a working gear set fitted, these all dictate prices and sutibility. Linkages, tipper setups and bits can all be added, but without the basics, its not a good starting platform
