Decided to sell the little Lokomo and Kesla stroke processor as I've fully retired from forestry these days, I had toyed with idea of splitting processor and keeping forwarder.. As you never know when might need it!

 

Realistically that'll never happen and also shame to split as the Kesla was professionally fitted by JCC Engon. Great little machine which just plods away, the processor is controlled by crane levers so nice and comfortable to work. Well maintained and everything good and tight, excellent air brakes, starts on the button, ideal for a small estate or contractor.

 

Headboard, bolster pins, rear extension are all there to convert back to forwarder if need be. Tyres all good except one and wheel chains for front included in sale. Willing to let it go for £10k plus VAT as it's just sitting in yard these days.

Ho often do you change the oil in your bogies TCD? has a seal gone to let lots of nasty stuff in?

Not often enough!

 

Should be 1000 hours or 12 months... Old bogies probably let moisture in more easily. Missing o-ring from one of the drain plugs - completely oil tight though.

Further to some of my previous posts re oil: I was talking rubbish sorry. Hytran applies to the international skid unit and in the case of the 578 is therefore all the transmission and gearbox plus the hydraulics / crane etc. In the 678, I guess you want it just for the transmission but the crane has a seperate tank and I'd imagine 46 would do. Still EP90 for the rear diff and bogies.

 

Query - have you got 500 or 600 tyres on yours?

Also have a set of tracks for a bruunett running 500's if any one is interested in them?

You couldn't have asked that last question at a better time! Coincidence or what!

 

500's on mine - got some lovely tracks to fit - see pics several pages back - well happy with them; got chains too. All nearly NOS for scrap money. Richard Court might well have 600 tracks. Remember - don't run them too tight! Bruunett bogies no likey!

 

Right the centre brake - I've just stripped and serviced mine and ordered new brake linings from OHBC (part of MICO); great co to deal with but very long-winded ordering process and parts come from Mexico once a month! Speak to Sharon Sheppard at:

The Centre Brake is a "Spring Apply - Hydraulic Release" thus a parking and emergency brake in the absense of brake hydraulic pressure. You most likely have a MICO 530 series brake as per here: (excellent video).

I'm not familiar with a 678 cab console but assume you have a brake pressure gauge? Thus assuming you have brake pressure, the handbrake by cab door works ok? The linings are notorious for wearing out quickly tho.

 

When the handbrake is "off", the cable from it to the brake valve operates to allow hydraulic brake pressure (under the cab (nearside middle)) to force the spring pack in the disc brake at the back of the cab; you should have a large brake disc. When you apply the handbrake, the hydraulic pressure is cut off and the spring pack presses the linings against the disc, which is connected to the prop-shaft. The foot brake operates the multi-plate wet brakes in the transmission - this is completely seperate to the parking brake.

 

You will notice 2 x brake cylinders in the engine bay - under the cab front window - one for each.

 

The brake disc slides on a splined section of the prop-shaft to allow for brake lining wear as the caliper sits on a overhead pin which allows some float; it rattles like a cowbell if the linings fall out!

Hope this helps. My caliper is obsolete but the new one replaces it as-is; does yours have the 4 mounting holes in the bracket?

few pictures from where we have been pulling out from this week, really wet as you can see, But its pretty much all out now

 

Can anyone recommend a place to get new internals for the joysticks on the 678 as they are starting to become a but worn, we have cleaned and stripped them but I think a rebuild will be in order soon and I have a few weeks break for it coming up
