Im planning on going to look at a tidy FMG 678 this week, anything particular to check out? It will be an upgrade from the my tractor and forwarding trailer, any other machines to look at that are a similar age, size, price etc?

 

Finally what are spares like to get hold of, I know that engines and boxes are fairly standard affair but what about bogies, crane spares etc?

Hopefully heading up there friday morning to take a look. Will let you know how it goes. Is there any way to test the drive, and difflocks etc in a flat concrete yard?

Don't know about the difflocks on that machine the 1210 has 3 switches that you press down on the right hand side of the seat.

 

Take it for a drive and look closely at the bogies and normal places for leaks and listen to noises from the pump.

 

There's plenty of scope for electrical issues so work the functions

 

Can't be many of them around that clean looking. Could be an ex estate machine?

I went for the bruunett last week and it arrived on site yesterday and been put to work straight away. So far everything seems to be working well, the bearings in the center pivot have a bit of play and will be replaced over the christmas break.

 

I have only had a quick play in it but the crane is so much faster and more powerful than the one on our forwarding trailer.

 

All in all pretty pleased with how it performing so far

I use h46 but I'm sure it says in the manual to vary it depending on the climate
