I am currently looking for a diesel ride on for garden contracts, and possibly a few commercial cutting jobs. I am drawn to kubota or iseki as there are local dealers for parts. I would be looking at a second hand machine for around the £5-6k inc vat. It would have to be a pick up collector but should i look at the direct feed or the side discharge into pipe collector type? Also is a high dump a good idea, or is it just something that will need fixing alot?:confused1:

So given my list, what would you guys get?

have a toro and very pleased with it has side discharge or collection but yet to use it mulches fine and leaves stripes so it looks good if i was to buy a bigger model i would look at a diesel one. if kubota are near you then kubota will not go wrong. as for high discharge heard good and bad about them. but as for discharge side all the time. rear discharge make a mess more like a hay field.

I use a G21 2006 model if I remember. Can't fault it. Think there is about 4000 hours on it and its easy to take the grassbox off and stick a trailer/spreader on. Not bad in the wet and is handy for lifting leaves as well. Nice finish.

The newer models have better control round corners for reducing tearing on the grass but if your careful that shouldn't really happen. And funky headlights if you want to look cool on those three days a year when they might be required.

I dump mine regularly as it's a doddle from the seated position so the piles are easy enough to spread out with a quick back and forth motion so the high dump for me would be better suited if you have a trailer or compost area to dump into.

As stated on another thread, I've a GR1600 which I ended up with because it turned up before I could find a tidy low hours G21 as that's what I was originally looking for.

They must be a helluva mower as Kubota have actually put them back in to production and you can now buy a new G21 again. That is a very very un-Japanese thing to do but I was talking to the local Kubota dealer a couple of years ago and he was lamenting the fact that they'd replaced it, seems he wasn't the only one!
