Great shots, that really is one ugly lump.

Don't you find that pulling the rope at that angle lifts the nose end of the bar over a few feet of cutting?

Strangely I thought it might but it doesn't. Pulls it along nice and straight.

The only slightly annoying thing is the bar bends down a tad in the cut... only about 1/4" but not sure there is any getting away with that on long bars... didn't notice it so much on my 50" though...

All I can say is respect, and you are one crazy mofo Rob!

The peaveys look excellent - I need to place an order with you at some point so I'll buzz you to catch up and chat to you about it then.

Ha ha - I'm an idiot Jon is what I am...! More pics to come but it was hard graft again today - trying to get the rings out the middle to make ebough room to swing the mill almost killed us!

But starting to generate some timber now so all good!

That is a monster tree!

Would a rope on both ends of the mill even the pull in the cut?

You are going to have a mountain of sawdust of that lump mate:laugh1:

Yes prob would be better but there is only me and Toby there!

It works fine with 1 person - I'm going to try a remote control winch and see how that works as there is only 30% effort with someone else pulling compared to normal.

We are clearing sawdust as we go!

Fair old lump that - giving the 090 a good workout?

Out of interest, any idea of a cutting rate with the bar fully buried?

Alec

I've not timed it Alec - I'll try to next time  But didn't seem to bad x2 40" wide planks 12 foot long with 20% fuel left in the tank.

Yesterday was a tough one - got the top first cut sectioned and off, got the sides off to give a more 'blocky look' so that the Peterson will fit round it....

Cut the middle out in x3 discs as you need a space to flip the mill (I only have 6m of track at the moment). I'll keep x2 of the discs, skim them flat and put in plywood for tables.

Then started milling which was awkward at max height - no pics of the Peterson working as we were getting pushed for time then.

It's a nice log in that no real shake, so should yield some good planks...
