Monterey, Cypruss timber ringed ready for splitting, anybody know what this wood is like for burning (seasoned of course)? Heard Cypruss was not that good somewhere along the line ... :confused1: Got a fair stack, would be a waste to let it rot!

2 to 3 years. Love to see the size of your log store. No wood needs 3 years to dry. Most wood if split and stored in well ventilated conditions will be dry below th 25% needed within 4 to 6 months

Must admit, I split wood now to sell on in 4-5 months time, which I tell the customer, I also have customers wanting to pay for green wood at the same price to store for themselves ... all softwood.

I dont know much about moisture content? Surely thats water content only? Cypress have a lot of sticky stuff which is not water and needs longer to deteriorate/break down before burning. Sure the water content might be below 25% quite quickly but the other crap will still be in there.

Leave it outside for 2-3 years, split and store inside, jobs a good un!

Wouldnt have it on my fire mind!

It burn better than Laylandii, you need to season it to reduce the levels of resin, otherwise it its a bit poppy, and will tar up your chimney very quickly. The moisture content will drop in about six months if split and stacked, but the resin levels do take longer.
