What so if its ever yellow I'm dying? Losing the battle for what?

 

I agree thirst effects concentration in the same way as hunger does, eat and drink is good, but dont let your self believe there is some kind of battle that you have to prepare for, its not life and death.

 

Another way of thinking about it is this, a hangover is mild dehydration, thats all. So starting work on a hot day with a hangover is probably not good, but even then with some water during the day most will be fine, and with a serious hangover you really wouldnt want to go to work but with a few cups of tea or drinks of water most hangovers dont lead to actuall dehydration requiring medical attention.

 

wo there tiger, who said anything about dying, we're talking about staying hydrated, not dying of dehydration. I was trying to point out that if you hydrate properly as part of your day to day life, like say a long distance runner would, you can under go longer periods of work with out THIRST becoming too much of an issue, but if you start your day with pee like strong tea - your loosing the battle of staying fully hydrated. steady there, did some one snaffle your biscuit?

 

the OP started the thread by saying he struggled, i was offering some advice, not trying to sell him isosuperdupertronic water.

Hydrate properly as part of your day to day life??? Do you mean drink some water now and then?

 

Ok, I'll try that, never thought of it before.

 

Do, you see the point I'm trying to make?

 

I struggle to get round to drinking enough water, so I use a camelbak when its really hot. I drink water out of it when my body tells me to, if I dont I get very thirsty and then have to drink a bit more to catch up. There is no need to dress it up as some important thing that we have only just discovered.

Looking forward to the hot days that might appear this summer but one thing I do struggle with is getting enough fluids when climbing for maybe a whole morning or afternoon. Being a sweater, a water bottle attached to my harness is gone in minutes so was wondering if anyone has worn or wears a camelback.

Does it get in the way too much, shoulder straps uncomfortable or interfere with your harness?

 

Your thoughts or experiences welcomed :thumbup1:

If you really want to carry one up with you try the small 1.5-2ltrs one and have it under ur t-shirt. You could also attach some thick cloth on to the straps so it eases the rubbing.

Then have a small cool box in the van ready to top it up again.
