When would be the best time to top leylandii? Can I do it now?

 

Also, I just cut down popular trees what should I do to prevent them shooting again?

The only problem with now is nesting birds no time of years is really relevant to when best to top in regards to health of conifer

 

As for poplar round up and a bit of hope am ignorance

Try and wait until at least 1st of August for the Leylandii please, ideally later in the year Nesting birds... Hard to check for them in a dense Leylandii.

Wait till it warms up a bit to hedge cut the face.

Score the top with your saw and pop on a bit of sbk or roundup. Drill some holes in the buttress roots and pour/spray a bit in them to make sure.

Lot of replies. Thanks a lot. Just one other thing, some of the branches on the leylandii have gone brown. What is this a sign of?

Best time to cut was about 50 years ago , can't stand them did lots this year and it's only April.

Summer time is best, but anytime really as long as theres not going to be a frost for awhile after youve cut it.
