Snatch block for winch how large do i need

HI ALL ive got a 6ton winch so how large of block do i need as with 2 line out thats 12tons pull so do i need a 12ton block of 6 ton block thanks all jon

Id say 12ton at the least. Same with your anchor slings and shackles need to be over the pulling power you could get. Always best to be safe when it comes to winching that much force!

Im not to clued up on the ins and outs but if it was me i would get a block of 12/15 tons, im sure someone who knows will answer soon enough

As big as you can carry mate, you will need to beef up everything.

Get yourself a huge long 5ton strop and then you can wrap it around anything 3 or 4 times.

 

When it's notin use just wrap it wound the but of the winch and choker it off and hang the pulley on it.

It's always higher than the winch rating, so for 6 go 10, for 12 go 15

Is the rope you are using steel wire ???

Just a tip regarding the winch rope itself, make sure the reeve of the block is the same size as the diameter as your winch rope otherwise you can very quickly damage the rope.

 

ie. if the reeve of the block is much larger than the winch rope, then the rope will flatten under load, especially if it is of the more flexible type with a fibre core. This can seriously reduce the working life of the rope.
