Hi all....

I`ve never had a processor before and have been looking into getting one. One has come up for sale near by, a jappa 700 in Good condition, New in 2009. Anyone know if these are any good? Also, what kind of figure would you pay for this?

Any help would be gratefully received, as I say, I`m new to this type of thing and don`t want to get ripped off.

Cheers,

Mark

I have one of a similar age, used from Fuelwood, been a good machine, put about 200 cube through it so far so not a lot. Only down side is that you are limited to 250mm timber and as the timber moves to the blade your cord is best at about 1.5m long so that it clears the feed rack. Longer stuff I load into the machine then chainsaw in half, do the first half then do the second half. Get a feed rack for it as well, speeds up production if you have a loader to load the rack, no point if not.

Planning to put 200+ cube through it this year.

Watched a Hakki Pilke 1x 37 make 6k at auction other week on had 20m3 through it from new!! We paid 5k for our posch 280 about 3 yrs ago and to be fair it's streets ahead of the japa 700 and the 1x37. Ring Jasp wilson up he always has trade ins at the right money. He had two 280's at the 3k+vat mark for a while and you can be sure they have been through their workshop before being sold on too!!

I purchased my PTO drive Japa 700 new in 2009 for £6k + VAT with a log deck thrown in. I'd reckon as a good low volume machine it'd still be worth around the £4k - £4.5k range.

They are flimsy though as in thin guage metal. So make sure it hasn't been bent out of shape which is easy to do on the splitting area with large wood being rammed off at angles. Or on the conveyor that splays easily when dropped. Or on the manual overide lever for the hydraulic if the operator has grabbed it in a panic instead of the drive stop.

In other words, its a machine that benefits from a gentle touch.
