Oh had to say it's part of a 150 acre douglas fir plantation so wont be denting it

 

sounds like a nice place mate, watch you dont snap some of those big ones, i would contact a log cabin company mate, there was a guy up north that built a monster cabin, then shipped it down south and rebuilt it. he would bite your hand off for them i would think. pm sylvestris stew(my bruv)he will get you his details. might be a lead you never know.

Thanks for contact, i'll drop them in 25ft sections to save them breaking on impact, it's nice to work for an estate that cares about future of trees not just quick buck.

Zoiks guys, burn douglas fir? Its one of the best timbers we can get. Sell it as sawlogs.

 

Thanks Logger. I was getting £38 a meter for good Douglas sawlogs 10 years ago.

 

How things have changed; Euroforest picking up DF log from me; paying £32/metre in 2013!

 

with regards firewood.....in reality anything will burn. if you go to some regions...one area in america springs to mind, thats pretty much the main wood availiable hence people think nothing about burning it.

we have become too fussy in this country and people are going to have to accept all manner of wood in the future if the rate of people installing woodburners continues to increase as it has been

 

Quite right.

 

100 m3 of DF log makes £3200 at roadside selling at current rate offered in South West by EuroF. If I log the lot and sell for firewood in due course it makes £14,000 !!! (*gross)
