why thanks !its thuja(western red cedar)

Did a bit of carving today i would say a good midrange saw is invaluable for rough work but the 020 with carving bar is the main tool i would say....didnt have a carving bar when i did old sammy the salmon though...but using it today it really is the way forward and on the 020 the power is just right.

Echo 351wes. Great little saws and you can get them with dime tip bars.

so light and powerfull for carving and the easiest saw to start i have ever had.

cheap too. I got mine direct from countax for less than £200 with the carving bar.

bought it just for carving when i was flusher than now but just can't seem to find the time to carve at the minute.

The Echo's are great little saws for detailing.

The Echo CS2700ES is smaller and lighter, and you can get an 8" bar for really up close detail work.

If you can afford it buy an ms 200 with a 12" dime tip 1/4 pitch, plus stihl are now selling the special carving chain whith the backs of the cutter already shaped!

I also use a 346xp with a 14" quater tip with 3/8 lp chain cuts really fast, then I have a 357xp with a 16" Toonie this has a nose smaller than your standard and is good for blocking out in scary tight spots. Its also run with the 3/8 lp chain.

Its Standard bars after that on my 362, 372, 660

Good luck.
