How many wraps/braids on the vt Carl?

 

Only asking as I have seen someone use their standard DRDT 3/2 vt as a backup on an SRT ascent system. That kind of vt is completely useless as backup on a single line, you need to at least double the wraps/braids to hold all your weight on a single line.

I agree, big mess! Essentially the standard kong ascenders used by many are not designed for arb use, they are designed for use on two seperate fixed lines and this is hardly ever implemented in tree work.

 

THey can be backed up to make them safer but again this is not always done. I would be very careful in saying that they are a good thing!

it is often wise to take some statements as opinion presented as fact and not facts. there are alot of rumours in our industry surounding this subject, where r u based buddy? and when & where is your presentation due?

I think Rupe has a great deal of knowledge when it comes to climbing equipment and as a Competent person, he should have.:001_tongue:
