Like Eddie, I wouldn't use glyphosate it will leech into soil. sounds like you know what to do. I've got a croquet lawn to do if you're interested lol.....

Glyphosate is a translocation weed killer (needs foliage contact).

Haha scartified, top dressed and re-seeded a cricket square last year..... Never again!

it is a bit early for using roundup unless you want to wait a couple of weeks at least as the plants are not growing that well yet. I would hire a compact tractor and rotavator. After a few passes nothing would be left of the old lawn and the organic matter would improve to top soil. Then firm by rolling with the turf tyres if dry. Rake level then turf. Nice lawn in photo btw.

Bloody stuff :P! I told them I would need at least 10days for the treatment of the existing lawn to take affect.

Thank you :) only been in the game a couple of years, so still learning allot!

@warren - glyphosate breaks down on contact with soil, rendering it useless, so no problem there, I just find glyphosate doesn't work that well on grass

@quercus - lawn sand or ferrous sulphate will cure moss, whilst making the grass more resistant to wear, if you turf it now, they will have to keep the dog off the lawn for atleast a month! Also, what quality turf would you use, garden centre turf is appalling quality, and high quality is only cost effective in bulk, although you would probably want 100+ rolls, so it would be cheaper with good quality
