First job advice needed !!!

I guess it's good for the industry to have inexperienced, unqualified and uninsured people carrying out work. Work that may have gone to a company who provide training, have insurance and DO work by the book.

I guess it's good for everyone in the industry.

He's asking for handsaw advice because he's not (yet?) got the appropriate training for using a chainsaw at height.

To me that sounds like someone who's keen on doing things by the book and using the appropriate technology for his skill and experience level.

It's his first proper job, of course he's inexperienced, nobody doing their first job has ever been experienced!

And how you can extrapolate from the few lines he's written that he's not insured is beyond my understanding.

Give the lad a chance, man!

Once again I'd like to thank all the member's who have responded to this thread :thumbup1: I've just been and purchased my Silky Zubat 330mm, ready to go I do appreciate "ALL" comment's even the "negative" one's !!

I know that I'm inexperienced and I am well aware of all the hoop's that I will have to jump through to get where I want to be within the industry, however the thing is I'm self funding my start in the job and I need fund's so that I can get up and running and invest in training and all the other thing's that need to be done so I have to work and earn the money to pay my way, one thing I was born with was a good portion of "common sense" I know what I'm capable of and what I'm not however I've got a young lad ready to "jump" on with me and he's just about to complete his course's in May he's got all the climbing gear and the education. However I realise that even if he has all his ticket's and qualification's it still doesn't mean he's experienced, which is where hopefully my common sense and methodical approach will compliment his knowledge :thumbup1:

I would beg to differ, when I did my first private job i was experienced. I know what I was doing because I took the time to learn my trade working under the guidance of someone else. I'm sure other's will be the same.

I "extrapolated" that I thought he wasn't insured from the information provided by the member in the original post.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not attacking the member on here asking for advice. When someone asks such a simple question that was asked, maybe (as well as answering his question) additional advice would include, get some tickets, work for someone for a while, see how it's done. At least then he'll have a half descent chance of doing a job safely and proficiently.
