My old boss had a motorised sharpener and we hated it as it cooked the teeth and this made them difficult to sharpen in the field. His theory was that he couldn't have three chaps scraping files over saws in the morning when there was work to be done! :laugh1:

As my eyes have got worse I find sharpening more and more difficult without a strong pair of glasses. I now have a thing that the file sits in that helps. A mate has bought a motorised sharpener off ebay. Any opinions on these would be welcome :biggrin:

Do what I did and get your eyes lasered . Then you can go back to a file . Not joking here ...its what I did .

Once you hit forty your eyes deteriate,aint that true, small print in the newspaper , glasses on. Although i do feel like a 17 year old, long dark hair with big t****

If you have got long dark hair and big Erther kits can you please change your avatar ...pretty please ?? :thumbup:

Chains perform much better as they become shorter as less drag on the cutter tooth. As the chain enters the cut it tips over and is at a much flatter angle to the material than when just resting on the bar rails.... Most hot saws/timber sports guys run chains that would be just about ready for the bin...

 

If that crappy ole chinese piece of junk out performs a main brand saw cc for cc, then theres sommat wrong!
