Does it work with a ropewrench/hitch hiker though?

edit:"For use only on double ropes" - From Petzl website.

That warning is just so you don't use it as a single device on srt. Adding a wrench would be fine. It's same as all the other devices that are only rated for double ropes, but are fine with a wrench (ie pulley/hitch, lockjack etc)

Hey Silky,

a) you oughta feel guilty, I just got my vt the way I like it, and now...

b) can you explain the benefits over a vt/pulley (hitch climber)? Its a lot of money, I know its shiny but is it really that much better than a £2 bit of hitch cord on a pulley?

Logic to me would say its no better than a HC that's well set up. A HC has the 3rd hole which allows you creat some different configurations.

Although its a device designed to put on and use being consistent from the day you use it, and from what I understand remain consistent as it wears.

I really want to give it a go my expectations are it will not be an improvement over a HC it will just be device that requires minimum fuss and work in the same way as the HC which is a good thing for me and my preferences for DRT work positioning over srt.

Been using a hc set up but I think this is far better, more consistent like you say unlike hc when your friction hitch gets wet and tightens. People are mentioning using the rope wrench I presume they mean for srt

Looks like there's a new toy in town I'll have to get one next month to tease the Cheesmanator with. Are they usable with 13mm rope or is it worth the extra expense to go straight to a thinner line?
