Ok this may be a stupid question :blushing: are there any harnesses currently available which have fully rated side d's (ie would allow for a primary attachment) as i understood it its only the main bridge pelvic attachment that is rated in the event of a fall??

regards

Hi Openboater

Hang from one side...no thanks... was having a discussion with relation to the images of climbers hanging beneath limbs attached by their d's in the AA's guide to good climbing practice, some of my guys were asking why its seen as unsuitable?

Its not so much the rating of the rings its the position. Side d's are not suitable for a hanging position and so shouldnt be used in this way, its nothing to do with if they are strong enough, of course they are strong enough, but the position is wrong.

TM and sequoia only as mention above.

So it ok to put a lanyard round a trunk, on side d's, while advancing your main line, but its not advised to have it over a branch and sit in it while doing so. Doesnt mean you cant, ever, just that its not meant to be done that way.
