Biodegradable sheet mulch

Hi all, I've a few acres of wood to plant for a client, site is grass now and he's dead keen on not spraying it off, not overly keen on acres of mypex either....

He does want his trees to grow as fast as possible though, hence the question: is there a biodegradable sheet mulch available, and where?

Apart from the snazzy looking website, I can't find anything relating to its use or retailers in the UK?

Have you used this stuff, or k is where to get it?

How about old hessian/wool carpet? upside down the brown/khaki isnt too obtrusive, and after a few months the grass grows back through it.

Not sure about that. I use it under my pallets of firewood billets and it lasts years. The odd bramble and nettle push through but not grass.

Carpets are not an option, unless you have a source of about 4acres of fully biodegradable carpet?

Why doesn't he want it sprayed? Would be a fraction of the cost!

Initially a fraction of the cost in £, but the ultimate cost is much higher.

 

Added to that is that hopefully the mulch mat should keep the weeds down over the whole area, not just around the trees.
