Hi Dave,

Mate I still haven't finished it:laugh1:

I keep meaning to start on the house element but other jobs get shuffled forwards. My wife has been asking for ages to get the garden sorted for the summer so that is filling any non paid time at the mo.

Fairly sure you've seen these so far but just incase......

I want to make a tabletop for my granddaughter. If I cut a two inch deep ring of beech, how do I let it season without it splitting?

As already said there's no guarantee it won't split. If you cut several and stack on stickers/laths same as for planked timber with some weight on top. Store in a dry but airy spot, odds are you'll get at least one that will be good.

Another solution, (I've not tried myself) is to glue some ply to the underside, which stabilises the wood.

You could also make a feature of the split and cut in a butterfly joint or two, which would stabilise the split too.

Sounds like a great little project, let us know how you get on with it:001_smile:

Alright Barry,

Ha ha too nice for a jail mate, that would be encouraging him to be naughty!

But yeh, there's just enough room for me to squeeze in through that doorway, so plenty of room for little ones:thumbup1:
