We were going to get one but were told that they suffer from fuel pump issues and are costly to repair, The guy who i asked said look on Ebay to see how many are being sold as spares or repairs with pump issues, loads of them. We opted for a 1.9sdi Vw caddy for just tootling around and cant fault it.

get the 1.9 they go like stink

No don't; stick with the isuzu 1.7 - superb on fuel - ridiculously economical...

Also the new bipper/nemo/fiorino 1.3/1.4 diesel is excellent; avoid the crappy wet liner, alloy 2.0 hdi pile o crap engine; the 1.3/1.4 is cast to last!

I was looking at the astra estate or van about 6 weeks ago. In the end I bought a BMW 320d touring 50 ish to the gallon extremely well built and quiet and hopefully reliable once the swirl flaps are out. 2004 142k on clock £2000

I've had a string of them, good vans all round bit noisey if the back is empty but I just laid carpet down and that sorted it out.

I used my last one for two years surveying and cutting traveling form yorkshire to london and the deep south, only thing I've found on each one is the bloody heater pipes perish going into the bulk head, each one at about 100,000mls.

keep the service to 10000 and not 20000 as recomended, oil pumps can be a bit tempremental

Had a 1.7 05 black sportive for 3 years, was a belter, ran on very little diesel and was a pleasure to drive, had very little trouble with it, all in all a very good van, would have another !! wish i still had it, needed a bigger van tho so it had to go!! find a good one with service history and im sure it'll serve you well!!

ive just bought one, 04 plate cdti done 500 miles so far think it needs a new fuel filter other than that seems ok so far, also has the bonus of rear seats which fold completely flat so best of both car/van also cheap on tax which is why I didn't go for the older Isuzu engined one
