I have been using a Dalen 2054 for about three years now and i find it fast, easy to use and maintain and is built to take bent lengths of cord. It uses harvester chain and will easily cut for three days heavy cutting before you notice the chain getting dull.Marshall Supplies are very quick and efficient at getting replacement chain, bars and parts out to you.

Been running a Jappa 700 and Farmi WP36 for two years( the jappa for four and doesn't get used now). The Farmi on road tow is so easy to move around, the conveyor swivels and I can fill four crates in about twenty mins. Just convinced Cardiff Council to buy one to convert timber, so simple to operate and sharpen the chain. Having its own engine allows me to hire my services out too. Spares from Riko are easy to get hold of if you need any parts, not that any things gone wrong. Get the log lift to save your back.

Try either the Dalen 2052 or the 2054, i have the 2052 and its awesome. No belts to muck about with, no funny loading systems, just strong construction, powerful hydraulics and can take 20" pieces of wood. If your in gloucestershire and want to try our then feel free! Try Marshall engineering

Think I'm going to bite the bullet and get myself a processor. I havent bought any firewood/forestry equipment new before so looking for suggestions for places I should be ringing around.

Many thanks

ben, I have bought off M.large 1x42 which is classifieds, bought the japa 700 off fuelwood which timberbear has, bought the road towable 12" off fuelwood which I traded in, have delt with marshall engineering and with riko.

all are helpful and good to deal with, but most importantly are excellent with spares.

any more advice just ask

will the harbour authority still need it if they are selling off Flat Holm??

Hay, Firewoodman, It's a shame there not selling Flat Holm, I would have loved to have bought it, instead I'm looking north!!! As for the timber, I think any third party who takes on the management of Flat Holm will still want to heat there fire! Rather than give the wood away we now have the opportunity to sell it to them. We have now processed over 100cubic metres of usable timber! There's so much timber on the slipway we may have to look for a seasonal processor operator! Interested send me your CV. Hope all is well.
