hey dudes and dudettes. Things are looking up, I'm starting my new post working for a local estate at the beginning of march and I have decided to go for a landy defender to look tge part plus I feel it would be practical for most estate management work. They will probably provide me with a truck but i would rather be prepared plus it will be very handy for a few private jobs on the side- sling my ms361 and hs81r's, bit of fuel, my ppe etc in the back of the truck and away I go!

Has anyone got one they would like to sell me? I'm looking around a grand. I know that's cheap in defender terms but im upon a real tight budget for a few months. I expect it will be a bit beaten up around that price lol.

What are the common problems of defenders, are they pretty cheap to run etc?

All info is much appreciated.

Oh and you more than likely wont find a defender for that money you will find a 90 or 110 though !

And yes there is a difference before im shot down a defender would be from 1991 200Tdi fitment age onwards ! before this they were 110s and 90s and 127s!

Its a defender 90 im after. Ok ok, looks like I'll be pushing the budjet up a bit then!!

Question still stands at the common problems please?

Also id be interested to hear from people interested in selling. Thanks

Common problems would be rust along the top of the chassis rails from the doors backwards, rear crossmember corrosion (not always easy to spot) and also the bulkhead, at the top between the vents and the hinges and in the footwells, especially the panels ahead of the doors (crud gets trapped between the wing and the outside of this panel, which is generally not waxoyled). Then there are problems specific to which engine is in it.

May be best to join your local Owners Club, they aren't as nerdy as you may think and members will be all too happy to make recommendations and view potential purchases. Also a good way to learn the limits of the vehicle and how to safely drive to them:)
