Well I'm not going to get another 261- I've officially had enough of this model and I won't be recommending them. Stihl should have changed my saws over for new ones knowing they have a problem. Are not the dealers saying anything.

Thinking 550 or Dolmar (have to check with the guy who fixes whether parts will be an issue) although 362 looks a candidate. I'm afraid at the moment its a bit of a love/hate with stihl.

ok

a bit of advice please

we have had 2 ms261's and both have had issues almost from the start.

One has been fixed and turned out to be a good saw.

Unfortunately one of the lads left it on site yesterday (dodgy housing estate) and it's gone. Not surprising.

What should i now do. Stick with stihl or go husky again. And if i change back which saw should i get. I've been away too long.:confused1:

1= who,s your nearest dealer

2= how many spares you have left over that will interchange your new saws otherwise you,ve wasted money

3= someone who knows your saws inside out repairs/spares/servicing etc

Thats the thing

I can get all stihl locally (about 1 mile) at discounted prices. They know about stuff too.

I have left over spares though have another 261 still in use.

I'll ask him, he's pretty good with all things mechanical

Is that the easy-start recoil? Mine has that too.

Yes it is. I must say I wasn't that fond of it in the beginning.

What really amazes me on that machine is the fact that the air filter stays clean no matter what you throw at it. Weeks of work pass on it before I check and realise it's still clean.
