Camping.

Sounds good, and I love it round Teesdale as well. My favourite biking route goes through Kirkby Stephen and M-i-T over to Alston.

Just make sure you take spare clothes in a drybag of some description. I saw 6 blokes go down with hypothermia the other day and it's aamazing how quickly it sets in. One had a body temperature of 31 degrees and was about half an hour away from popping his clogs.

Had a cracking couple of days away with the tribe, great weather & good company for kids, mums & dads.

It was the lads first time camping & as its been too many years since the wife & I were under canvas on a regular basis most of the good gear has either been lost in moves or perished so I stocked up at the affordable end of the spectrum, & tbh, it did the job nicely.

Didn't even go that far, but change of scenery was worth a couple of chilly nights.

The fires, wine & whiskey lasted well into the wee hours :001_smile:

Back to work for a rest now

I used to use a Saunders Packsaver tent when I was working away. Last summer was miserable, rained most of the time and I'm stuck in a little one man.

I've converted to a Eureka Chrysalis hammock now. I also got a Snugpak 10x10 tarp. Works really well as a combo, the hammock is really comfi (I can sleep on my side or front if I want to) and the tarp gives me somewhere covered to cook, read or listen to the cricket in comfort, regardless of the weather.

This is my most used tent, i do have a much smaller 1 man tent but never used it prefer this one.

Heavy Duty Super Quasar Tent - Terra Nova Equipment

I still have the original of that tent, before "terra nova" they were called Wild Country, and before that they were "winter gear".

My flysheet has the wintergear label on it, so its not far off 30years old now. but it has seen better days and the flysheet needs replacing. Terra nova quoted my 260 ish for a new flysheet which I must get round to getting one day.
