Why not an IRC chat room ?

With the site being a bit tempremental wouldn't it be better to have the site chat room using IRC ?, it would be far more reliable and would ease the load on the site.

It would also give people a place to go if the site goes down.

Looking at different options for next year though for chat. although we found some issues with the way the chat is currently set up, bit too technical to go into though

There is a chatroom. What scraggs is making a point of is that a irc room on an irc server would take a lot of load off the website, rather than carry on using the resource hungry webchat - which can be unreliable at times. I love irc, was a mirc and xchat user for years. It is so very simple to use but also very adaptable. Not quite as good as KDX, but its not popular anymore so meh

Oh I know what Scraggs was getting at I was a frequent mIRC user in my teens but I fail to see a great benefit in creating one.
