Do you recall if they had an ammonia aroma about them ?

 

What's the host Tree here, I understand that Mycena Alcalina are associated with conifer stumps

I didn't notice any smell, I think it's on the dead half of an overstood coppiced sweet chestnut. I took it two years ago so it's a bit hazy now.

Fistulina hepatica looking like a tennis ball on Red Bull, & maturing Ganoderma resinaceums on Red Oak that I posted before when they were fresh out of their daipers.

Well, until either messrs Lonsdale or Matttheck join up onboard our merry little HMS Arbtalk, then I guess your just gonna have to put up with this ole bull talking ammatuer.

 

Neither of the esteemed gentlmen above or the deep dark vaults of Bioimages make mention of hispidus hosting on either Turkey or the indiginous Oaks.

Though they do elude to it being associated with other broadleaves other than Ash,

ie; Malus, Juglans, Plantanus, Ulmus, Acer..........

 

Although Michael Jordon does elude to Oak & Beech being host to Inonotus cuticularis which appears very similar to I. hispidus.

 

So, either you've stumbled on to a bit of a first here Mr Haine or you've stuck it up there with supper glue to confuse us poor students

 

Or it's simply the later of the two.
