Tis the season to see Fungi, fa la la la la....

a few discoveries over the last couple of days....

 

Podocypha multizonata on oak, Ganoderma applanatum on oak, Polyporus squamosus on beech, Amanita rubescens on oak, Flammulina velutipes on beech, (Psuedo)inonotus dryadeus on oak & Ganoderma resinaceum on ash

Amazing pictures, David.

 

All the woods round Southend / Rochford way are lapsed hornbeam and sweet chestnut coppice with oak standard (and the odd birch). Not much diversity in terms of fungi.

 

Must get down to the New Forest next year and go hunting for some...

The mycorrhyzal species of Xerocomus chrysenteron (red cracking bolete) in oak woodchip mulch and Russula violeipes (velvet brittle gill) on beech roots.
