Yes I'll bow down to the fungi master - I'd never heard of Ischnoderma, but having looked it up it sounds a more likely candidate than Phaeolus.:001_smile:

When you do Rowan, please give serious thought to contacting Brian Grieg at Forest Research.

 

He is very keen to find fresh Merip/Beech to grind out, to assess decay ingress in stumps for his Meripilus research program.

Got to fell this dead Fraxinus at the end of the week........i thinkg this is a ganoderma, but i am not sure if so or which, even after trawling through this thread!!:blushing:

It goes 3/4 the way round the tree, which was living a year ago, and is totally dead now.

Tom I Think that would be Perenniporia fraxinea. Here's one we did earlier still yet to finish.

Fuligo septica, dog's vomit fungus?

 

Actually a slime mound rather than a fungus.
