Happy Xmas, wanted to chop some wood today....!!!! but left my my nearly new STIHL MS250 on tickover (with chain brake on) and have burnt out the chain brake! anyone know what parts will I need to repair???plastic side panel has melted around the brake/chain drive...orrible smell!!! :blushing:

That's better.

 

Sw the last title and didn't bother posting as I knew it wouldn't be long before it was gone.

 

A side cover, you need to check the brake band is good and the clutch drum. The clutch itself MAY be ok but check all the springs and small plates are ok.

Oh.

 

Remove the clutch drum and all the plastics sourounding it, then have a good clean up.

 

The drum comes off with the clip. Then the two hex screws in the plastic. All this comes off and gives you s good look around the clutch area. The main parts are the braked band and clutch. Depending on how you want the saw depends on replacing the plastic parts.
