Did anyone get pic of the bark? To me it looked more like privet than lilac.

awesome stuff, I know of a 190 ft silver fir in the Scottish borders , climbed it, dead wooded it , al try get some pics up .

I didn't, but would steer away from lilac thinking about the bark.

A couple here of local trees. Posted them before but may be of interest.

 

Q. robur and C. sativa. Both old pollards. For scale the concrete in front of the oak is 3' dia.

The chestnut I don't know but the oak is 36 feet.

The turkey oak, looking forward to climbing this one, a height of 22.76m done by my Clinometer app on the iPhone, and as we fount out on the beech it's surprisingly accurate the spread we measured at 27.50m again the diameter was 4' but as you can tell from the pictures it's far larger around the bowl measuring 7' at the narrowest part of its face, as I write this I have just had a phone call from a friend telling me of another oak! Not sure of the species but apparently it has a 6' diameter base?.. And is over 100'....we will see.
